STAFF WRITER
The Boston Phoenix, New England’s largest alternative weekly newspaper and one of the nation’s most significant and respected urban newspapers, is seeking a staff writer.
We’re looking for an aggressive news hound with both the audacity to write what others will not and the grit to back it up! Are you hungry to break stories, spot trends outside the mainstream, and generally pick Boston up by the ankles and shake it until all the newsy nuggets fall out of its pockets? Good. Read on.
We want someone experienced yet hungry; a writer who connects with this city, but still isn’t afraid to take it apart to see how it really works; a person who understands irony and is a veritable king or queen of pop culture; someone who is able to be at once hip AND controversial; and whose work will be factually bulletproof.
Our ideal candidate will have at least three years of professional, full-time writing experience at a weekly newspaper or magazine; someone who knows the city well; and someone who's already living the life we will ask you to cover.
As a Staff Writer at the Boston Phoenix, you will be an integral part of a staff that is responsible for publishing a consistently provocative newspaper and website. You will be surrounded by a team who are passionate about what they do in a fast-paced, creative, and rewarding environment.

Does the thought of working back-stage and behind the scenes interest you?
Do you want to get the inside scoop on all of Boston’s hottest parties?
Well, then you should consider becoming a part of the Boston Phoenix Street Team! As a member of this team you’ll not only help to create a buzz about all of our events in the area, but you’ll also be the first to know what everyone is talking about the next day!
