A Healthy Breakfast

There’s quite possibly no costume more recognizable than the Givenchy dress Audrey Hepburn donned as adorably naïve girl-about-town Holly Golightly in the 1961 movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The film arguably did as much for the little black dress as Coco Chanel did, and it likewise catapulted Audrey Hepburn to icon status. If you haven’t read the book that set it all in motion, now’s the time. Truman Capote’s 1958 novella turns 50 this year, and a celebratory edition (which includes three of his must-read short stories) is in bookstores now. Pick up the Breakfast at Tiffany’s 50th anniversary edition (Vintage Books, 2008; $12.95) at Porter Square Books (Porter Square Shopping Center, 25 White Street, Cambridge, 617.491.2220).
